10 terrible reasons to not ask someone to be your bridesmaid [Freelance Article]

by Rachel Wilkerson on January 17, 2013

I worked with the team at Wedding Party to create this fun graphic about things that probably shouldn’t be an issue when choosing a bridal party. Seriously, there’s no reason to stress about your potential bridesmaids’ size…or peen.

Meanwhile, I have a new post on the Wedding Party blog today with a bit more of my experience with this and some advice to brides who were as confused as I was: How to Choose Your Bridal Party.

OHMYGOSH Picture #2 is the one that my soon-to-be-sister-in-law sent me when she told me to pick a champagne colored dress & nude shoes! :)

I love the advice of relationship god-parent. R and I stood up for a couple this summer who are mutually our best friends. Even though we had known one bride first (we met her when she was dating our former roommate!), we stood up on the other bride’s side, because by the time of their wedding we were close to them as a couple and it didn’t matter whose side it was, except to make things more even.

Love this. I’m getting married in May and of the 5 fabulous people standing next to me I have acquired all of the following check boxes in the descriptors:

pregnant
plus-size
tattooed
broke
single
male

Oh and some of them didn’t know each other before this. Although I don’t think #2 or #3 apply to my bridal party because none of them are more or less pretty – they’re all beautiful inside and out – that’s why I chose them.

Haha I love that you looked at this as a checklist of good qualities. :) Also, your bridal party sounds really awesome.

Look at you and your totally pinnable graphic! Good job! (And I’m cracking up that you said peen.)

I love this. Even though my wedding planning days are long past, I was recently told by a friend (married a few months now) that she really wanted me for a bridesmaid but had this certain number of couples set in her head. Didn’t care myself, but I think she’s feeling regretful that I didn’t have a special role in her big day.
