Oh my gosh…THIS WEEK. I just had a lot to do and even though I was feeling really drained, I couldn’t sleep. By Wednesday evening, I already felt like I had packed two weeks in. Then I came home to find that Indiana had gotten really sick in his crate — so sick, in fact, that I had to put on my raincoat and take the whole crate outside before I could even open it or let him out. I had to give him a bath, obviously, but I couldn’t put him down anywhere in the house while I collected a towel or shampoo, so I just carried him around with one arm while collecting supplies with the other. And because it was too dark and cold to use the hose, I ended up peeling off my raincoat and everything and giving him a hybrid bath/shower. It was not a good night for either of us. Or for Eric, whose chocolate bar was behind the whole debacle.

Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh.

So, I’ll be honest: the only reading I did this week was following the Manti Te’o debacle. Though I don’t give a shit about college sports, my nail salon leaves sports on all the time, so one afternoon I watched a whole special on Notre Dame’s football team, and, of course, Manti Te’o and his sad story. So that I actually knew about this story made it even more jaw-droppingly fascinating. Between this and the Lance Armstrong interview, I’m just like…WILL I EVER BE ABLE TO TRUST A FAMOUS ATHLETE AGAIN!?!? WHAT ELSE ARE THEY LYING ABOUT?!?! (I dunno…maybe all those sexual assaults?)

Anyway, all I have beyond that to share is this lovely round-up of the best of Dear Abby! It’s a great read, as is her obituary.

Gah, I AM SO GLAD IT’S ALMOST THE WEEKEND! I feel like I just need to press the reset button…and yes, that’s a sexual reference.

What are you guys up to this weekend? Any good reading material to make up for my lack thereof?

I’m excited for the weekend because I am visiting my parents and picking out my hairpiece for the wedding (My mom is making it). I am also eager to start my evening because this morning while I was drying my hair my hair dryer stopped, then shot sparks allll over the bathroom. I had a shaky start to the day, but, funnily enough, my hair looks FREAKING AWESOME.

I’m also tackling a metric ton of writing this weekend. Yay!

I hope things get better/easier/less raincoat necessary.

Ooh that’s fun!! Is it a veil or something else? I am really excited to do wedding stuff with my mom. :)

I don’t want to wear a veil. I mean, every time I think I do, I decide I don’t want to. I am planning to wear a red silk flower in my hair. My mom got a book of patterns for them from the library and I get to pore over it this weekend and pick one out. I also am trying to find a good pen for addressing the invitations – the envelopes are dark red, so black ink isn’t showing very well on the test invite.

There must be something in the air, because this was a rough week for me too. I’m not even going to summarize my complaints because they are so boring…but yeah, I’m looking forward to more balance next week. In the meantime, I’m making this drink tonight: http://fiveandspice.wordpress.com/2013/01/17/the-honeycrisp-cocktail/

I was really interested to learn {maybe it’s common knowledge & I was just never paying attention…} that Ann Landers was Dear Abby’s sister! I read that in a piece about her passing and was totally shocked. And intrigued.

EE I thought I commented but I’m thinking it may have never gone through.

If you liked learning about Manti, I think the writer/ journalist in you may find this article interesting: “Print the Legend: Armstrong & Te’o Center of a Truth-telling Storm” http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/40999508
