You guys, I really love three-day weekends! (I know…really controversial stance I’m taking here, right?) That extra day is so great; suddenly I have enough time for relaxing and hanging out and getting errands and work done. This weekend Eric and I slept in, cleaned our house, made trail mix, watched some TV, and just…hung out! And I got work done today! (I kind of love working on holidays because no one is around to distract me.)
But the main thing I did this weekend was get ready for the wedding I’m in next weekend. I was able to do a bunch of errands (including going into BHLDN, where I snapped that picture) and watch a ton of YouTube videos so I could learn how to make my hair look fancy. And then attempt to make myself actually look fancy! (More on all that in another post!) I think I’m beginning to get the hang of it…also, right now I am the very definition of “all dressed up and no where to go.”
Anyway, here’s a little reading material to ease you back into your work week!
Yoga Practitioners Gaze at Their Inner Selfies [The New York Times]
The Myth of the Teenage Temptress [xoJane]
My Children and the Limits of White Privilege [Nursing Clio]
The Pop Star Immunity Problem [Celebrity Gossip, Academic Style]
Photographing the Female Face of Farming [Modern Farmer]
An Apology For The Times I Went Off Registry [Huffington Post] (I found this really interesting because I was just recently saying how going off the registry is fine if you’re going to buy something cool/unique/meaningful…but going off the registry to buy a different version of something a couple specifically asked for is annoying. Sounds like that’s what this author was doing. I was telling Eric about this and he said, “Ugh that sounds like when…” and I finished, “you ask for a cell phone for Christmas and your parents get you a cordless phone instead?” And he said yes, that’s exactly what he was going to say; that happened to him in high school and he’s clearly not over it yet. Also, one of these days Eric and I should probably set up a wedding registry.)
How was your holiday weekend? Anything good to share?
